Everyone knows that Valentine’s Day and candy go hand-in-hand. Did you know that 58 million pounds of chocolate are bought throughout the week of Valentine’s? Candystore.com said that the average American spends about $144.56 just for Valentine’s Day candy. The website also ranks the top candies by state. What’s a New Yorker’s top candy for the holiday? Conversation hearts are once again the most popular sweetheart treat here. Heart-shaped boxes of chocolates are in second place and cinnamon bears in third. Take a look at the map to see what’s popular in your home state. By the way, they also say that 47% of people will buy themselves a box of chocolates this year–so don’t be shy!
